Tool Safety

Walt: We are learning to use hand tools safely


Tool Safety                                                                                                

Tools can be dangerous if used incorrectly. When using the class hand tools,
make sure you know how to use them properly. 

  1. To answer these questions use Google Search to find a picture of the tool. 

  1. Combination Square:

2. Write down what each tool is used for:
  • Combination Square is used for making sure the door corners are straight 
  • Tenon Saw is used for cutting wood 
  • Builders Pencils are used for marking wood showing where to cut next
  • Screwdrivers are used for screwing in nails 
  • Hammers are used for nailing nails 
  • Piliers are used for cutting wires 
  • Crowbar is used for opening doors & Splitting apart wood that is stuck together.
  • Tape Measure is used for Measuring wood.
3. What are some things we can do to keep ourselves and others safe while working with hand tools?
  1. Use high vis jacket 
  2. Wear steel cap gumboots
  3. Wear gloves 
  4. Wear safety goggles
  5. Wear Builder headphones 
  6. Wear Mouth face mask
